Disc brakes have long been associated with mountain biking and are renown for creating both power and control in extreme situations. This revolutionary technology is now infiltrating the world of road bikes amidst much debate and speculation. This months edition of Cycling Plus Magazine seeks to set the record straight with their review of six road bikes all featuring new disc brakes.

Of the six, the Cannondale Synapse HI-MOD Disc DA Di2 is scored second place as one of the best you can buy with a more than respectable 4 stars. It is interesting to note that it's sibling the Synapse 5 was awarded bike of the year for 2014. However in the battle of the disc brakes the Bianchi Infinito CV far exceeds the rest with an impressive 5 stars. Testers described it as "a superb blend of race bike handling and endurance bike comfort - a machine that shows the future of disc braking to the full." But don't take their word for it. Why not decide for yourself?

Both Cannondale and Bianchi bikes are available here at BC Cycles. Come in and see us if you are interested in a bike upgrade or would just like join the disc brake debate over a friendly brew.
